In a significant step toward addressing urban pollution, the Punjab government has launched nine new vehicle emission testing points across Lahore. This initiative, led by the Environment Protection & Climate Change Department of Punjab, aims to monitor and control vehicular emissions, ensuring that vehicles on the road comply with environmental standards.
The decision to establish these testing stations comes at a time when air quality in Lahore continues to raise health concerns, especially during the intense summer months. To accommodate the public amid the scorching heat, the government has also introduced flexible testing hours, allowing citizens to visit the stations at their convenience without disrupting their daily schedules.

Why Vehicle Emission Testing Matters?
With rising vehicle numbers in Lahore, unregulated emissions are a leading cause of poor air quality and environmental degradation. Regular testing and compliance not only help reduce harmful emissions but also prolong engine life and improve fuel efficiency. Most importantly, this initiative empowers citizens to actively participate in creating a healthier and greener Lahore.
Public Participation is Key
The Punjab government is urging all vehicle owners in Lahore to visit their nearest emission testing point and ensure their vehicles meet the required standards. No appointment is needed, and testing is both affordable and quick.
By making use of these facilities, residents can help Lahore transition to a cleaner, more sustainable urban environment—where public health and environmental protection go hand in hand.
