CDA Set to Launch Shaheen Chowk Underpass Project to Ease Islamabad Traffic Woes

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is gearing up to commence work on the much-anticipated Shaheen Chowk underpass project, a major infrastructure initiative aimed at addressing the persistent traffic congestion near Islamabad’s educational hub.

Located in a strategic area frequented by students, faculty, and local residents, Shaheen Chowk has long been a choke point in the capital’s road network. According to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the underpass’s design phase is nearing completion, with construction expected to begin shortly. This development comes on the heels of the successful inauguration of the Jinnah Square Murree Road underpass, which was completed in a record 35 days under the supervision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. That project has already improved traffic flow between Murree Road and Srinagar Highway, setting a high benchmark for future projects like the one at Shaheen Chowk.
