F-8 Underpass in Islamabad Completed In Just 42 Days

CDA Set to Launch Shaheen Chowk Underpass Project to Ease Islamabad Traffic Woes

Share

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is gearing up to commence work on the much-anticipated Shaheen Chowk underpass project, a major infrastructure initiative aimed at addressing the persistent traffic congestion near Islamabad’s educational hub.

Located in a strategic area frequented by students, faculty, and local residents, Shaheen Chowk has long been a choke point in the capital’s road network. The new underpass project is designed to significantly streamline vehicular movement and enhance connectivity between various sectors of the city.

According to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the underpass’s design phase is nearing completion, with construction expected to begin shortly. Minister Naqvi highlighted the critical importance of the project, noting that it will greatly benefit the commuting public, especially given the proximity of several major universities and academic institutions. The daily gridlock in the area has been a source of frustration for thousands of road users, and the underpass aims to bring much-needed relief.

Officials within the CDA have confirmed that this initiative is part of a broader urban development strategy to modernize Islamabad’s transport infrastructure. Once completed, the underpass will not only reduce travel time but also improve access to key arteries such as Srinagar Highway, further integrating the city’s growing sectors.

This development comes on the heels of the successful inauguration of the Jinnah Square Murree Road underpass, which was completed in a record 35 days under the supervision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. That project has already improved traffic flow between Murree Road and Srinagar Highway, setting a high benchmark for future projects like the one at Shaheen Chowk.

The Shaheen Chowk underpass is expected to have a transformative impact on local traffic conditions and represents a positive step forward in CDA’s mission to build a more accessible, efficient, and commuter-friendly Islamabad.

It’s really a matter of great sense of responsibility in order to perform it’s real function of resolving public issues and CDA seems to be well aware and doing excellent work in this regard. Best Wishes.
