Travelers heading toward Murree should be prepared for a change in route, as the Murree Traffic Police have officially announced the temporary closure of the highway from Satra Meel Toll Plaza to Bansara Gali. This closure comes in response to ongoing road repair and carpeting work being carried out by the Highway Department, particularly on the stretch between Chhatar and Salgran.
The announcement, made on Monday, underscores the need for urgent maintenance to ensure long-term road safety and a smoother travel experience for motorists. As a result, the road has been closed to all types of traffic, and commuters have been advised to plan accordingly.
Alternate Route for Travelers
To mitigate disruptions, the authorities are recommending that all vehicles traveling from Islamabad and Rawalpindi to Murree use the Murree Expressway as an alternative. The expressway remains open and offers a convenient and safer route while the affected highway undergoes essential improvements.
Safety and Timely Completion are Top Priorities
A spokesperson from the Murree Traffic Police stated, “This temporary closure is necessary to ensure the safety of commuters and to facilitate timely completion of the roadworks. We request the public’s cooperation during this period.”
Motorists are strongly encouraged to stay updated on traffic advisories and plan their travel in advance to avoid unexpected delays. Authorities will issue further announcements once the road repair work is complete and normal traffic flow can resume.
This initiative reflects the authorities’ ongoing commitment to infrastructure improvement and commuter safety, particularly in high-traffic tourist regions like Murree.
