As Murree gears up for its peak winter season, the City Traffic Police has introduced comprehensive traffic management strategies to handle the anticipated influx of tourists visiting the hill station during snowfall. These measures aim to ensure a seamless experience for visitors while maintaining safety and minimizing congestion.
Enhanced Traffic Management Team
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Murree, Mughees Ahmad Hashmi, has deployed approximately 200 traffic wardens across key locations to manage the significant increase in vehicles expected during snowfall. The deployment aligns with directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Inspector General of Police, and the Additional Inspector General of Traffic Police. CTO Hashmi emphasized that these guidelines would be strictly implemented to maintain order and safety.
Key Traffic Regulations and Adjustments
To alleviate potential congestion and improve traffic flow, several measures have been introduced:
- One-Way Traffic System:
Roads like View Fourth Road, Bank Road, Hall Road, Kuldana Road, and Imtiaz Shaheed Road will operate as one-way routes during snowfall to streamline vehicle movement. - Parking-Free Zones:
Specific areas, including the vicinity of Habib Bank, General Post Office (GPO) Chowk, Cecil Hotel, and Kuldana Road, as well as the stretch from Bank Road to Girls Degree College, have been designated as no-parking zones to prevent bottlenecks. - Restricted Access for Heavy Vehicles:
Heavy vehicles, such as food supply trucks and water tankers, will be permitted entry only during specific hours, from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., to reduce disruption during peak tourist times.
Ensuring a Safer Experience for Visitors
These traffic management measures aim to enhance the overall experience for tourists flocking to Murree to enjoy the winter snowfall. By improving traffic flow, reducing congestion, and prioritizing safety, the authorities hope to make Murree more accessible and enjoyable for visitors while supporting local businesses and tourism.
With these proactive steps, Murree is set to welcome thousands of tourists for its famous snow-covered landscapes while ensuring a smoother, safer travel experience for everyone.
