In a bid to enhance road safety in Islamabad, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have launched a strict crackdown on traffic violations across the federal capital. According to officials, serious violations will now result in hefty fines, and in many cases, vehicles may be confiscated and shifted to police stations.
This new policy is part of a comprehensive effort to restore discipline on the roads and prevent accidents caused by reckless driving. Drivers without valid licenses, permits, or those found driving underage will face severe penalties, including the seizure of their vehicles.
Speaking on the matter, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Zeeshan Haider emphasized that the campaign is aimed at safeguarding the lives of road users. “No one is allowed to drive without a valid license in the federal capital. Immediate and indiscriminate action will be taken against violators,” he stated.
The ITP’s crackdown also targets other dangerous behaviors such as lane violations, overloading, and one-wheeling, all of which will now incur stricter punishments. The department has made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for any form of negligence on the road.
The CTO has urged citizens to follow traffic regulations for their own safety and for the well-being of others. “Adhering to traffic laws not only prevents accidents but also contributes to a more efficient and orderly traffic system,” he added.
This move has been widely appreciated by road safety advocates, who believe that stricter enforcement is necessary to curb the rising number of traffic-related incidents in the capital. With this firm stance, the Islamabad Traffic Police aim to promote a culture of safe and responsible driving.
