The Punjab Transport Department is making major strides in public transportation with the expansion of the Gujranwala Metro Bus project. In a recent development, the metro route has been extended from Aimenabad Mor to Gakhar Mandi, with a feasibility report underway for a further extension to Kamoke — a move that could significantly enhance regional connectivity.
This announcement was made during a high-level meeting led by Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, held to assess the operational readiness of the metro bus service in Gujranwala. Senior officials, including Transport Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch and Gujranwala Commissioner Naveed Haider Sheerazi, were also present.
A Game-Changer for Gujranwala’s Urban Mobility
Minister Bilal Akbar emphasized the importance of this project, citing Gujranwala’s status as a key industrial and commercial hub in Punjab. With a rapidly growing population and increasing transportation demands, the metro bus system aims to provide a safe, efficient, and affordable transit solution. The initiative was approved by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who has made urban infrastructure a core focus of her administration.
