Dubai’s Salik toll system and parking policies are set to undergo significant changes aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing mobility choices for residents and visitors. The revised Salik variable toll pricing will come into effect from January 31, 2025, while new parking tariffs will be implemented by March 2025.

Salik Variable Toll Pricing Details

Starting January 31, 2025, Salik toll charges will be dynamic, varying based on peak and off-peak hours:

  • Peak Hours (Weekdays): A Dh6 toll will apply between 6 AM to 10 AM and 4 PM to 8 PM.
  • Off-Peak Hours (Weekdays): A Dh4 toll will be charged between 10 AM to 4 PM and 8 PM to 1 AM.
  • Toll-Free Hours: No charges will be applied from 1 AM to 6 AM.
  • Sunday Rates: The toll will remain Dh4 throughout the day, except during public holidays and special events, and toll-free from 1 AM to 6 AM.

During Ramadan, the toll schedule will be adjusted:

  • Peak Hours: From 9 AM to 5 PM with a Dh6 charge.
  • Off-Peak Hours: Dh4 will apply between 7 AM to 9 AM and 5 PM to 2 AM.
  • Toll-Free Period: From 2 AM to 7 AM.

The current rule allowing toll-free passage between Al Safa and Al Mamzar toll gates in the same direction within one hour remains unchanged.

Revised Parking Tariff Policy

From March 2025, Dubai will introduce a new parking fee structure under the Variable Parking Tariff Policy:

  • Premium Parking: Dh6 per hour during peak times (8 AM to 10 AM and 4 PM to 8 PM).
  • Standard Public Parking: Dh4 per hour during the same peak periods.
  • Off-Peak Rates: Unchanged.
  • Free Parking Periods: From 10 PM to 8 AM and all day on Sundays.

Additionally, a Congestion Pricing Policy will be implemented, charging Dh25 per hour for parking near event areas, beginning with the Dubai World Trade Centre in February 2025.

Objectives and Impact

These changes aim to streamline traffic management, reduce congestion, and encourage the adoption of smarter mobility solutions. The introduction of variable toll pricing and revised parking fees underscores Dubai’s commitment to maintaining a seamless and efficient transportation network, catering to the needs of its rapidly growing population and increasing number of visitors.

Motorists and commuters are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these updates and plan their travels accordingly for a smoother experience across Dubai’s road network.
