Pakistan Car Sales Surge 141% in July 2026 as Auto Market Rebounds

Pakistan’s passenger car market has started the new fiscal year with a strong recovery, as Pakistan car sales jumped 141.28% year-on-year in July 2026, according to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).

Total passenger car sales reached 17,216 units in July 2026, compared with 7,135 units during the same month last year. The sharp increase highlights a significant improvement in market activity and consumer demand after a comparatively weak period for Pakistan’s auto industry.

Suzuki Alto Leads the Recovery

The Suzuki Alto remained one of the biggest contributors to the increase in overall sales. Alto sales climbed to 7,217 units in July 2026, compared with 2,327 units in July 2025.

This represents an increase of more than three times over the previous year and further strengthens the Alto’s position as one of Pakistan’s highest-volume locally assembled passenger cars.

The model continues to benefit from its compact dimensions, relatively affordable running costs and strong popularity among buyers looking for an entry-level locally assembled vehicle.

Suzuki Swift Records Strongest Growth

Among the major models included in the PAMA data, the Suzuki Swift recorded one of the most impressive percentage increases.

Swift sales rose from just 522 units in July 2025 to 2,018 units in July 2026, representing year-on-year growth of 286.59%.

Other Suzuki models also posted gains. Suzuki Cultus sales increased from 239 units to 392 units, while Suzuki Every sales rose 54.06%, reaching 493 units compared with 320 units a year earlier.

Toyota and Honda Sales Also Jump

Toyota posted a strong performance during the month, with combined sales of the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris reaching 4,283 units in July 2026. This compares with 2,418 units in July 2025, representing growth of 77.12%.

Honda also benefited from the broader market recovery. Combined sales of the Honda Civic and Honda City increased from 1,143 units in July 2025 to 2,529 units in July 2026, meaning sales more than doubled year-on-year.

The strong performance of these high-volume models suggests that improved consumer confidence and market conditions are supporting demand across multiple segments.

Not Every Model Gains

Despite the overall positive performance, some models continued to struggle. Hyundai sales declined to just 25 units in July 2026, compared with 66 units in July 2025, representing a decline of around 57%.

The weaker performance comes as Pakistan’s traditional sedan market faces increasing competition from hybrid vehicles, crossovers and SUVs, which are becoming increasingly attractive to consumers.

Electric Cars Show Early Growth

Electric vehicles also recorded some improvement, although their overall sales volumes remained relatively small compared with conventional passenger cars.

Dewan Honri-VE sales doubled from 24 units in July 2025 to 48 units in July 2026, representing 100% year-on-year growth.

While the numbers remain modest, the increase indicates that interest in electric mobility is gradually expanding within Pakistan’s passenger vehicle market.

Can Pakistan’s Auto Recovery Continue?

July 2026 has provided an encouraging start to the new fiscal year for Pakistan’s automotive industry. The 141.28% year-on-year increase in passenger car sales was driven largely by strong performances from high-volume models such as the Suzuki Alto and Swift, Toyota Corolla and Yaris, and Honda Civic and City.

However, one month of strong sales is not enough to confirm a sustained recovery. The performance of the market over the coming months will be important in determining whether this momentum can continue.

Factors such as vehicle prices, interest rates, consumer purchasing power, taxation, import policies and the growing availability of hybrid and electric vehicles are likely to influence future demand.

For now, July’s figures provide a positive signal for Pakistan’s auto industry and suggest that the passenger car market has entered the new fiscal year with considerably stronger momentum than it had a year earlier.

Disclaimer: Sales figures are based on PAMA data and may be subject to revisions. Market performance can change due to economic conditions, taxation, pricing and consumer demand.
