Announcing the initiative, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said every registered water tanker has now been assigned a unique barcode that can be scanned by both residents and authorities to instantly verify the vehicle’s credentials.

Under the newly introduced digital tracking mechanism, residents receiving water deliveries can scan the barcode displayed on a registered tanker using a smartphone. Once scanned, the system provides detailed information about the vehicle and its operations.

Furthermore, authorities have earmarked resources for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP) Phase-II and the Greater Karachi Sewerage Plan (S-III), both of which are considered critical to improving water supply and sanitation services for millions of residents.
