Mercedes-AMG has officially revealed its new electric GT 4-Door performance car, and the company is clearly aiming to push EV performance into a new league. Instead of focusing only on straight-line speed, AMG says this new model combines high power, advanced handling technology, luxury, and ultra-fast charging in one package.
The upcoming electric AMG GT enters a growing segment of premium electric performance sedans, where buyers now expect both luxury and serious driving capability.
A New Direction For AMG Performance EVs
The new AMG GT 4-Door EV rides on Mercedes’ dedicated high-performance electric platform. Unlike many traditional EVs that use simple dual-motor setups, AMG has developed a more advanced three-motor configuration for this car.
The setup includes:
- One motor at the front
- Two independent motors at the rear
- Advanced torque distribution between rear wheels
- Fully electric all-wheel drive system
This arrangement allows the vehicle to control power delivery more precisely during acceleration and cornering.

Power Output Crosses 1,100 Horsepower
Mercedes-AMG says the top version of the electric GT produces over 1,100 horsepower, placing it among the most powerful production EVs announced so far.
Performance figures include:
- 0–100 km/h in around 2.1 seconds
- Top speed close to 300 km/h
- Massive 1,800 Nm torque output
The company also hints that the platform could support even more powerful versions in the future.
Fast Charging Becomes A Major Highlight
One of the biggest talking points is charging performance.
The new AMG EV uses an 800-volt architecture and supports charging speeds up to 600 kW under ideal conditions. Mercedes claims the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in roughly 11 minutes on compatible chargers.
That makes it one of the fastest-charging production EVs introduced by a Western automaker.
AMG Adds More Driver-Focused Technology
Mercedes-AMG appears to be focusing heavily on driving feel rather than just raw acceleration numbers.
Key features include:
Rear Torque Vectoring
The rear motors independently control each wheel to improve grip and handling during aggressive driving.
Structural Battery Design
The battery pack forms part of the vehicle’s chassis structure, increasing rigidity while lowering the center of gravity.
Simulated AMG Sound Experience
AMG is also working on a simulated V8-inspired sound system to give the EV a more emotional driving character.
Luxury Cabin With Performance Focus
While full interior details remain limited, the electric GT is expected to feature:
- Large digital displays
- Premium AMG sports seats
- High-end materials
- Advanced driver assistance systems
- Performance-oriented driving modes
Mercedes will likely position the car as both a luxury grand tourer and a high-performance EV.

- Driving engagement
- Charging convenience
- Track capability
- Technology
- Luxury experience
Mercedes-AMG appears to be targeting all of these areas with its latest electric GT.
Expected Market Position
The new electric AMG GT will likely compete against:
- Porsche Taycan Turbo models
- Audi e-tron GT
- Tesla Model S Plaid
- Lucid Air Sapphire
- Future high-performance EVs from BMW and other luxury brands
Pricing and launch timelines for global markets are expected later.
