Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV Sets New Long Range Record in Pakistan

The Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV has delivered a strong real world performance in Pakistan, achieving a driving range of over 1500 kilometers in a controlled highway test. As a result, the plug in hybrid SUV now ranks among the longest range vehicles tested under local conditions.

The test took place on the Lahore to Islamabad Motorway and covered a total distance of 1507 kilometers on a single fuel tank and full battery charge. Notably, this figure exceeds the model’s global benchmark of around 1400 kilometers.

Engineers carried out the test over four days and completed multiple round trips between Lahore and Islamabad. During the test, the vehicle covered 205 kilometers in pure electric mode, which is higher than the claimed 170 kilometers. Meanwhile, the remaining 1302 kilometers came from hybrid operation. The vehicle continued running until it reached low fuel levels.

Performance Features and Market Impact

The Tiggo 9 PHEV uses a 1.5 liter turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 34.46 kilowatt hour battery. In addition, it features a dedicated hybrid transmission and a triple motor setup. Together, this system produces up to 610 horsepower and 920 newton meters of torque.

Chery has positioned this model as a premium plug in hybrid SUV in Pakistan. It entered the market through Master Auto Engineering and carries an estimated price of PKR 13.69 million. Therefore, it stands as one of the most advanced hybrid SUVs currently available in the country.

Globally, the vehicle has already shown strong long distance capability. For example, under WLTC conditions, it offers a combined range of over 1400 kilometers. Similarly, an international endurance test in South Africa recorded a range of 1374 kilometers under mixed driving conditions.

The Pakistan test result further strengthens its position in the market. With such extended range, the SUV offers practical benefits for long distance travel. Drivers can travel between major cities with fewer stops, which improves convenience and efficiency.

In terms of features, the Tiggo 9 PHEV includes Level 2 driver assistance systems and multiple safety technologies. It also offers automated parking and intelligent energy management. Inside, the vehicle provides premium comfort with massage seats, ventilated seating, and a large infotainment display.

Moreover, industry experts believe plug in hybrids are becoming more relevant in Pakistan. Since charging infrastructure remains limited, many drivers prefer vehicles that combine electric driving with fuel backup. As a result, hybrids offer a balanced solution.

Overall, the strong test performance of the Tiggo 9 PHEV may influence buying trends. Real world results like this often build consumer confidence. In the long run, such vehicles could help accelerate the shift toward more efficient and practical mobility solutions in Pakistan.
