Uber has expanded its electric vehicle incentive program across the United States, offering eligible drivers a $4,000 grant to switch from gasoline cars to EVs. The move marks a major step in the company’s push toward cleaner transportation.
The program, previously limited to select states, is now available nationwide. It aims to make EV adoption more accessible for drivers as fuel costs rise and federal incentives become less certain.
How the EV Grant Program Works
Uber’s “Go Electric” program targets its most active drivers. Platinum and Diamond tier drivers can qualify for the $4,000 grant if they switch to an electric vehicle and complete 100 eligible trips.
Drivers must meet the requirements before the end of 2026. Applications will open in mid April, and Uber will process them through its official platform.
The company says the initiative helps reduce the upfront cost of switching to an EV, which remains a key barrier for many drivers.
Additional Discounts and Partnerships
Alongside the grant, Uber has introduced more savings through partnerships. Drivers can access exclusive discounts on new Kia electric vehicles.
These include a $1,000 price reduction on models like the Kia Niro EV and EV6. The larger EV9 SUV comes with a $1,500 discount.
Uber has also partnered with the online marketplace TrueCar. Through this platform, drivers can receive an additional $1,000 discount on both new and used electric vehicles.
These combined incentives aim to make EV ownership more affordable and practical.
Growing EV Adoption Among Drivers
Uber reports strong growth in EV adoption across its platform. More than 286,000 electric vehicles are currently active on the app worldwide.
According to the company, its drivers are switching to EVs at a much faster rate than the general public in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
The company links this trend to improving EV economics, including lower operating costs and expanding charging infrastructure.
Uber’s expanded program could accelerate the shift toward electric mobility in the ride hailing sector. Lower fuel and maintenance costs make EVs attractive for high mileage drivers.

At the same time, cities are pushing for cleaner transport solutions to reduce emissions and improve air quality.
By expanding financial support nationwide, Uber is positioning itself as a key player in this transition. The company continues to work with automakers and charging providers to support long term EV adoption.
The success of this initiative may influence how other mobility platforms approach electrification in the coming years.
