The Government of Balochistan has introduced a new Electric Bikes Scheme aimed at promoting affordable and environmentally friendly transportation for residents across the province. The initiative was officially launched by Sarfraz Bugti, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, during an inauguration ceremony held on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, the chief minister said the scheme is part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to improve transportation facilities and support sustainable mobility. Under the initiative, electric bikes will be provided to students, working women, and other eligible citizens on easy installment plans, helping them travel more conveniently for education, employment, and daily activities.
Easy Installments to Support Daily Commuting
The Electric Bikes Scheme aims to make personal transport more accessible, particularly for individuals who struggle with rising fuel prices and limited public transport options in many parts of the province. By offering electric bikes on affordable installment plans, the government hopes to ease financial pressure on families while enabling more people to commute efficiently.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the initiative will help students reach educational institutions and support working women who require reliable transportation for their jobs. He noted that providing affordable mobility solutions is essential for improving economic participation and social development across the province.
Transparent Balloting Process for Distribution
According to the provincial government, the distribution of electric bikes will be carried out through a transparent balloting system. Citizens from all districts of Balochistan will be able to apply online once the application process begins.
This digital application system is expected to ensure fair participation, allowing people from both urban and remote areas of the province to benefit from the program. Officials said the process will be monitored to maintain transparency and equal opportunity for applicants.
Electric Bikes with Practical Range for Daily Use
The electric bikes being offered under the scheme will have an estimated travel range of 70 to 100 kilometers on a single charge, making them suitable for routine commuting needs such as traveling to universities, offices, and markets.
By promoting electric mobility, the government also aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and cut down on transportation costs. The initiative is expected to contribute to lower fuel consumption while supporting environmentally sustainable transport options.
Next Phase May Include Electric Loaders
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti also revealed that the provincial government is considering expanding the program in the future. In the next phase, authorities may introduce electric loaders designed to support the working class and small businesses that rely on affordable goods transport.
If implemented, this expansion could help traders, vendors, and small entrepreneurs reduce operating costs while benefiting from cleaner and more efficient transportation solutions.
A Step Toward Sustainable Mobility
The Electric Bikes Scheme marks an important step toward modernizing transport in Balochistan. With increasing fuel costs and environmental concerns, electric vehicles are gradually becoming a practical alternative for daily commuting.
Through this initiative, the provincial government hopes to improve accessibility, empower students and working women, and encourage the adoption of environmentally friendly mobility solutions across the province.
