The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has launched a new Good Citizen Campaign aimed at promoting responsible driving behavior and encouraging voluntary compliance with traffic laws across the federal capital. The initiative focuses on recognizing and rewarding motorists who consistently follow road safety rules, marking a shift toward positive reinforcement in traffic management.
Rewarding Law-Abiding Motorists
According to the City Traffic Police (CTP), traffic officers will issue Good Citizen stickers to drivers who demonstrate compliance with traffic regulations. These include obeying speed limits, stopping at red signals, wearing seat belts, and using helmets while riding motorcycles. Once awarded, the stickers will be visibly placed on vehicles to identify law-abiding drivers on Islamabad’s roads.
Officials said the stickers are not merely symbolic. Each Good Citizen sticker features a QR code, allowing authorities to digitally verify drivers who regularly adhere to traffic rules. This system will help traffic police track responsible motorists and ensure transparency in the recognition process.
Special Incentives and Priority Services
In addition to public recognition, the campaign offers practical incentives for compliant drivers. Motorists who receive Good Citizen stickers will be eligible for special facilities at traffic police facilitation centers, including access to dedicated counters.
CTP officials stated that services for Good Citizen drivers will be processed on a priority basis, significantly reducing waiting times for license-related matters, vehicle documentation, and other traffic services. The incentive-based approach aims to make compliance rewarding rather than punitive.
Improving Traffic Discipline and Flow
Traffic police officials emphasized that the Good Citizen Campaign is designed to promote road discipline, improve traffic flow, and reduce violations through positive encouragement. By recognizing responsible drivers, the initiative seeks to inspire others to follow traffic rules voluntarily.
Authorities believe the campaign will also help strengthen trust and cooperation between motorists and traffic police in Islamabad. Instead of relying solely on fines and enforcement, the program highlights the importance of civic responsibility and mutual respect on the road.
A Step Toward Safer Roads
The Islamabad Traffic Police stated that the Good Citizen Campaign aligns with its broader goal of improving road safety and reducing accidents in the capital. If successful, officials hinted that similar reward-based initiatives could be expanded or enhanced in the future.
With increasing traffic congestion and road safety concerns, the campaign represents a proactive effort to create a safer and more disciplined driving culture in Islamabad.
