PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has officially approved the Gujranwala Mass Transit Project, a long-awaited initiative designed to modernize public transport in one of Punjab’s fastest-growing urban centers. The decision was made during a detailed meeting with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, reflecting the party’s renewed focus on urban mobility and infrastructure development.

During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif emphasized that the people of Gujranwala deserved a modern transport system years ago, highlighting the city’s growing population and increasing travel demand. Route Details: 30km Corridor from Eminabad to Gakkhar

Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar shared key technical details during the briefing.
The Gujranwala Mass Transit System will include:

  • 30+ kilometer route from Eminabad to Gakkhar
  • Service for over 51,000 passengers daily
  • Smooth, reliable mobility through dedicated transit corridors

This major corridor will connect key residential, commercial, and industrial zones, making daily travel easier and more efficient for workers, students, and local commuters.

40 Electric Articulated Buses for Clean Urban Transport

A major highlight of the project is the introduction of:

  • 40 modern electric articulated buses
  • Zero-emission, eco-friendly transportation
  • Quiet, comfortable, and energy-efficient travel

The system is designed to lower fuel dependency, reduce air pollution, and advance Punjab’s shift toward clean and sustainable transportation solutions.
