The Government of Punjab has announced the rollout of 15 electric buses in Chakwal, marking another major step in the province’s commitment to clean, modern, and sustainable public transport. The initiative is part of Punjab’s broader efforts to reduce smog, cut emissions, and offer citizens a more comfortable and environmentally friendly travel experience.
Beginning December 03, 2025, the electric buses will be operated by the Punjab Transport Company (PTC) across key routes in Chakwal. These include:
- District Complex to Dhudial
- Tehsil Chowk to Balkasar
- Tehsil Chowk to Mohal Mughlan
These routes were selected based on high commuter demand and the need to introduce efficient, low-emission transport alternatives.
A Major Step Toward Cleaner Mobility
According to officials, the introduction of electric buses directly supports the provincial government’s long-term vision of a cleaner and quieter Punjab. Electric buses are known for:
- Zero tailpipe emissions
- Reduced noise pollution
- Lower operating costs
- Better energy efficiency
The new fleet features advanced noise-reduction technology, making travel smoother and more comfortable for passengers while minimizing impact on the environment.
Aligned With Chief Minister’s Vision
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has consistently emphasized the importance of transitioning toward environmentally responsible transport solutions. She has reiterated that projects like the Chakwal electric bus service are central to the broader development agenda aimed at modernizing public transport across the province.
The initiative also contributes to provincial targets for improving urban mobility while combating air pollution—especially in areas where smog and congestion remain persistent challenges.
Encouraging Citizens to Embrace Green Transport
Authorities have urged the public to support the initiative by using eco-friendly transport options. Increased adoption of electric buses is expected to:
- Improve air quality
- Reduce dependency on fossil fuels
- Promote healthier, greener cities
- Enhance the overall commuter experience
With the introduction of these 15 electric buses, Chakwal becomes one of the latest districts to join Punjab’s expanding clean-transport network.
