The most notable update is the introduction of dedicated motorcycle lanes on Shahrah-e-Faisal, expected to be implemented starting December.
Dedicated Motorcycle Lanes to Begin in December
Shahrah-e-Faisal, widely regarded as the city’s most heavily used artery for office workers, students, delivery riders, and commercial transport, will soon accommodate exclusive bike lanes. According to the traffic authorities, this measure aims to reduce two-wheeler related accidents, improve lane discipline, and allow smoother flow for cars, buses, and freight vehicles.
With motorbikes forming a large share of Karachi’s daily traffic, the absence of proper lane discipline has long contributed to sudden road blockages, side-swipes, fatal collisions, and inconsistent traffic speeds. Officials believe that regulated motorcycle lane usage will enhance predictability and minimize abrupt movement patterns that often disrupt fast-moving traffic on this high-volume corridor.
