To streamline motorway travel and ensure smooth enforcement of the mandatory electronic toll system, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has officially expanded its M-Tag installation network by setting up seven new service points across Islamabad. The initiative aims to cater to thousands of daily commuters who rely on the motorway and require timely tag installation ahead of the enforcement deadline.
With increasing traffic volume and concerns over long queues at existing centers, the administration has adopted an extended 12-hour service window, enabling citizens to avail M-Tag services conveniently from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at newly established points. This extension is expected to significantly reduce waiting times and ease the process for office-goers, intercity travelers, and commercial vehicle operators.
New M-Tag Installation Points (9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.)
- Kachnar Park, I-8
- Islamabad Club
- Lake View Park
- F-9 Park
- Tarlai
- Gulberg Greens
- 26 Number Chungi
In addition to the new sites, M-Tag services have also been activated at the Excise and Taxation Office in H-9, which will operate separately from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.. The decision to keep a dedicated evening schedule aims to facilitate individuals who are unable to visit earlier due to work, travel, or educational commitments.
Why the Expansion Matters?
With M-Tag becoming mandatory for travel on Pakistan’s motorway network, timely installation is crucial to avoid fines, travel delays, or denial of motorway entry. The new centers are strategically placed near public parks, residential communities, and major transport corridors to provide greater convenience and coverage.
The expansion of M-Tag installation facilities across Islamabad marks a major step toward efficient motorway toll automation and citizen convenience. Commuters are encouraged to get their M-Tag installed as early as possible to avoid last-minute rush and compliance issues.
