Chairman Randhawa emphasized that strict enforcement and monitoring will be ensured to make the policy effective. Those found violating emission standards or engaging in garbage burning will face legal action under environmental protection laws.
Crackdown on Polluting Industries and Brick Kilns
Authorities informed that brick kilns refusing to adopt cleaner zig-zag technology or those violating environmental regulations are already being demolished. Randhawa directed that all industrial facilities must transition to environment-friendly systems without delay to support the city’s smog reduction efforts.
Role of Community and Awareness Campaigns
Environmental expert Rizwan Mehmood recommended prioritizing tree plantations with species that absorb pollutants, such as amaltas, ficus, and neem. He also encouraged carpooling and mass awareness campaigns to promote responsible environmental behavior among citizens.
