Sindh Expands People’s Bus Service to Khairpur, Shikarpur, and Naushahro Feroze

The Sindh government has approved the expansion of the People’s Bus Service to Khairpur, Shikarpur, and Naushahro Feroze, marking a major step toward improving public transport accessibility in interior Sindh.

The decision came during a transport department meeting chaired by Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon, where officials reviewed progress on ongoing mass transit initiatives across the province.

20 New Buses for Interior Sindh

Under the expansion plan, 20 new buses will be added to the fleet to serve commuters in these newly included districts. This initiative aligns with Sindh’s broader mission to provide affordable, reliable, and safe transportation options for residents in less-connected regions.

Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized that the People’s Bus Service has already transformed urban mobility in Karachi and Hyderabad, and the government now aims to extend these benefits to rural and semi-urban areas. The project reflects the provincial government’s commitment to inclusive development and balanced infrastructure growth across Sindh.

Focus on Eco-Friendly Urban Mobility

During the same meeting, officials also reviewed new transport initiatives planned for Karachi, including:

  • Double-decker buses to accommodate high passenger volumes
  • Electric buses to promote clean and sustainable transport
  • Sindh’s first electric taxi service, expected to launch in December 2025

Sharjeel Memon stated that these steps are part of the government’s strategy to build a modern and eco-friendly transport network that ensures safe, comfortable, and efficient mobility for all citizens.

Strengthening Connectivity Across Sindh

With the addition of new routes and buses, the Sindh People’s Bus Service will help ease travel for thousands of daily commuters, reduce traffic congestion, and cut travel costs. It will also boost regional connectivity, linking smaller towns with major urban centers and supporting local economies.

As Sindh continues to invest in smart, sustainable, and inclusive public transport, the expansion of the People’s Bus Service stands out as a milestone in the province’s journey toward equitable urban mobility and cleaner transportation solutions.
