BYD and Honor Partner to Build AI-Powered Smart Car Ecosystem

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD and smartphone giant Honor have officially announced a strategic partnership aimed at integrating mobile and automotive technologies. The two companies are working together to create an intelligent ecosystem where smartphones and cars function as one connected, AI-driven unit.

This collaboration combines Honor’s expertise in mobile connectivity with BYD’s DiLink smart system, the automaker’s in-vehicle software platform that powers many of its latest electric vehicles. Engineers from both firms are now collaborating to develop an advanced cross-platform connectivity system designed to make the interaction between driver, car, and smartphone smoother and more natural than ever before.

Seamless Integration Between Phone and Car

A key feature of the new system is the introduction of high-precision Bluetooth digital car keys, allowing any Honor smartphone to lock, unlock, or even start a BYD vehicle. This eliminates the need for a traditional key fob, letting drivers operate their cars directly through their phones—without ever removing the device from their pocket or bag.

Another major upgrade under development is true app continuity. For instance, a driver can search for directions on their phone, and the navigation route will automatically appear on the car’s infotainment screen upon entry. This feature aims to eliminate the repetitive steps that often frustrate users when switching between devices.

AI, Privacy, and Enhanced Driving Experience

The partnership also emphasizes artificial intelligence integration. By using AI to learn driver habits and preferences, the system will deliver more personalized in-car experiences. Additionally, BYD and Honor plan to introduce a privacy mode, ensuring that sensitive notifications and messages remain hidden from passengers—an important feature for modern connected cars.

Screen mirroring support is also being developed, enabling users to project their phone’s display directly onto the car’s main screen, offering better access to apps, entertainment, and productivity tools.

A Glimpse Into the Future of Smart Mobility

Although the BYD and Honor partnership has only just begun, both companies see it as a step toward redefining how users interact with vehicles in the era of smart mobility. With electric vehicles becoming increasingly connected, the collaboration could set a new benchmark for intelligent car-phone ecosystems in China and beyond.

BYD and Honor have not yet announced a launch timeline, but industry observers expect early versions of the integrated system to appear in BYD’s upcoming electric vehicle models in the near future.
