Murree: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled a comprehensive development plan for Murree, focusing on modern public transport, healthcare, education, and tourism. Speaking at a special ceremony in Murree, she confirmed that a Green Line bus service and a train project are part of the government’s initiatives to ease travel and improve the lives of residents and tourists.
Green Line Bus Service – Free Travel for Students, Women & Seniors
The CM announced that 15 buses will operate under the Green Line bus service, offering affordable and eco-friendly transport across Murree. Importantly, students, women, and senior citizens will be able to travel free of cost, making the service inclusive and accessible for the most vulnerable groups.
She further highlighted that a train service for Murree is also in the pipeline. This will help reduce the heavy inflow of private vehicles into the city, cutting congestion and improving accessibility for tourists traveling from across Pakistan.
“These initiatives will provide safe, affordable, and eco-friendly travel options for both the people of Murree and the visitors,” Maryam Nawaz said.
Major Healthcare Announcements
Alongside transport upgrades, Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Centre, where angiography procedures have already begun, with full-scale cardiac surgeries starting soon.
She also announced a new hospital in Bhurban, further strengthening healthcare facilities in the region to meet the needs of both residents and tourists.
Education, Water Supply & Sanitation Projects
The CM revealed plans for:
- Upgraded schools to provide better education opportunities.
- A large water supply project to meet the growing demand for clean water.
- Sanitation schemes to improve local hygiene and environmental standards.
Separate Administration & Tourism Force
To ensure efficient governance, Murree has been granted a separate district administration, with dedicated police, health, and education departments.
In addition, a special tourism force has been established to enhance visitor experience, maintain law and order, and protect the natural beauty of the hill station.
Towards a World-Class Tourist Destination
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that her vision is to transform Murree into a world-class tourist destination, combining modern infrastructure, healthcare, and eco-friendly public transport with enhanced safety and administration.
The initiatives mark a significant step toward sustainable development, ensuring Murree’s charm as Pakistan’s most popular hill station remains preserved while offering modern facilities for both residents and tourists.
