In a major development for Sindh’s railway infrastructure, Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi has announced the launch of a new Karachi-Sukkur passenger train with a substantial investment of Rs. 6 billion. The upcoming train service will feature modern air-conditioned coaches, providing passengers with enhanced comfort and convenience. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the KCR project had already faced years of delays and urged immediate collaboration between Pakistan Railways and the provincial government to expedite its revival.
The chief minister proposed outsourcing certain operations to improve efficiency and service delivery, while also calling for priority upgrades to the Karachi-to-Rohri rail line. According to Shah, this upgrade would provide significant relief to commuters by reducing travel time and increasing the line’s passenger capacity.
Clearing Encroachments for Better Infrastructure
Both sides also agreed on the urgent need to remove encroachments along railway tracks, a key step toward facilitating new projects and ensuring uninterrupted rail operations in the future.
