The Motorway Police has released a safety advisory as persistent heavy rainfall impacts various central regions of Pakistan, affecting major highways and causing difficult driving conditions.

According to spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, rainfall ranging from light to heavy is currently reported on several critical motorway routes, including:

  • Motorway M-2: Lahore to Kala Shah Kaku
  • Motorway M-2: Pindi Bhattian to Kala Shah Kaku
  • Lahore-Sialkot Motorway: Entire route under rainfall
  • Motorway M-3: Faizpur to Nankana Sahib

Motorway Police Advisory for Commuters

The Motorway Police emphasized that their personnel are deployed around the clock to assist and ensure road safety. However, drivers are urged to exercise maximum caution when traveling during these wet conditions.

“The safety of road users is our top priority. A little caution from drivers can prevent accidents and ensure a safe journey for everyone during the rainy season,” the spokesperson added.

Essential Safety Tips for Rainy Weather Travel

To minimize risks and ensure safer travel during heavy rainfall, the Motorway Police strongly recommends:

  • Reduce Speed: Drive significantly slower than usual to maintain control.
  • Increase Following Distance: Keep extra space from the vehicle ahead to allow safe braking.
  • Check Vehicle Condition: Ensure wipers, headlights, and brakes are fully functional before travel.
  • Avoid Non-Essential Travel: Postpone trips if heavy rain makes driving hazardous.

For immediate assistance, commuters can contact the Motorway Police 24/7 helpline at 130.

With rainfall expected to continue in coming days, adherence to these safety guidelines can greatly reduce accident risks and ensure safer journeys for all road users.
