The Sindh government has officially extended the deadline for mandatory biometric verification for all vehicle registrations, transfers, and alterations until August 14, 2025. The announcement was made through a notification by the Sindh Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, providing citizens more time to comply with the newly implemented policy.
Initially introduced on September 16, 2024, the biometric verification policy mandates that all vehicle-related processes—whether for new or used vehicles—must be authenticated through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The policy is part of a broader effort to increase transparency and eliminate fraudulent vehicle transactions in the province.
Phased Implementation Plan
Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh’s Senior Minister for Information, Transport, Excise, and Taxation, outlined a three-phase rollout of the policy:
- Phase 1 (Effective July 1, 2024): Biometric verification became mandatory for registration of new vehicles.
- Phase 2 (Starting November 1, 2024): Requirement extended to vehicle buyers.
- Phase 3 (Upcoming): Both buyers and sellers must complete biometric verification during all vehicle transfer processes.
According to Minister Memon, the goal is to digitize and secure public services in Sindh, making the excise system more efficient and citizen-friendly. The biometric process ensures accurate identity verification of all parties involved in vehicle transactions, helping reduce the risk of fraud and illegal ownership transfers.
Where and How to Verify?
Vehicle owners can complete the biometric verification at:
- Any NADRA e-Facilitation Center
- District Excise Offices across Sindh
This move aligns with the provincial government’s broader strategy to modernize public service delivery and protect vehicle buyers and sellers from fraudulent practices.
Final Deadline Reminder
The new August 14 deadline is a crucial opportunity for vehicle owners, buyers, and sellers to fulfill the verification requirement without disruption to their transactions. The government has urged all citizens involved in vehicle dealings to act promptly and avoid any last-minute inconveniences.
By strengthening identity checks through NADRA integration, Sindh is positioning itself as a leader in adopting secure, digital public administration tools within Pakistan’s transport and excise sectors.
