In a major boost for air travel between Pakistan and Southeast Asia, AirAsia X, the low-cost Malaysian carrier, has announced the launch of direct flights between Karachi and Kuala Lumpur, starting May 30, 2025. The new route is expected to enhance connectivity, promote tourism, and create new opportunities for business and cultural exchange between the two regions.

The airline will operate four weekly flights on this route—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—providing flexibility and convenience for travelers. With ticket prices starting at an affordable Rs 55,800, this move reinforces AirAsia X’s commitment to offering budget-friendly travel options without compromising on service quality.

AirAsia X aims to serve over 100,000 passengers annually on this route, reflecting strong demand for direct and cost-effective air travel between Pakistan and Malaysia. The addition of Karachi to the airline’s network marks a significant step in strengthening regional ties and expanding access for Pakistani travelers to Southeast Asia and beyond.

In parallel, discussions are also underway to establish a direct flight route between Karachi and Dhaka, as diplomatic and economic relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh continue to improve. Both governments have granted the necessary permissions, and a formal agreement is expected to be finalized soon. This potential new route will further facilitate regional connectivity and ease travel for passengers commuting between South Asia’s key cities.

The launch of these services comes at a time when global air travel is recovering post-pandemic, and airlines are exploring new, high-potential markets. AirAsia X’s strategic expansion into Pakistan not only fills a gap in direct air connectivity but also promises to unlock new avenues for bilateral cooperation in trade, tourism, and education.

For travelers planning their next international trip, the new AirAsia X flights present a timely and economical option. Bookings are expected to open soon on the airline’s official website and mobile app.
