Lahore to Launch Exclusive "Diamond Lanes" for Motorcyclists

Rawalpindi Introduces Dedicated Green Lane for Motorcyclists to Improve Road Safety

Following the success of Lahore’s initiative, Rawalpindi has now launched a dedicated green lane for motorcyclists. This move aims to enhance road safety, reduce congestion, and minimize accident risks by providing bikers with a structured and secure route.

Why a Dedicated Motorcycle Lane?

Motorcycles are one of the most commonly used modes of transport in Pakistan, yet they often share road space with larger vehicles, increasing accident risks. The introduction of a green lane exclusively for bikers will help:
Reduce reckless lane switching and overtaking
Lower accident rates by maintaining order on the roads
Ensure smoother traffic flow for all commuters

CTO Benish Fatima on the Importance of the Green Lane

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Benish Fatima emphasized that this dedicated lane is designed to protect both motorcyclists and other road users. She urged bikers to strictly follow lane discipline and use the green lane responsibly.

She further highlighted that the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi will enforce regulations to ensure the success of this initiative, discouraging reckless driving behavior.

A Step Towards Safer and More Efficient Roads

The implementation of motorcycle-specific lanes reflects the city administration’s commitment to improving urban mobility. This structured movement will prevent bikers from competing with larger vehicles for space, making roads safer for everyone.

Key Benefits of the Green Lane Initiative

Better traffic management and reduced congestion
Fewer motorcycle-related accidents
Safer commuting experience for all road users

A Model for Other Cities

With continued enforcement and public cooperation, Rawalpindi’s green lane project has the potential to serve as a model for other cities looking to implement similar measures. By promoting structured movement and road discipline, this initiative paves the way for a more efficient transport network across Pakistan.

Final Thoughts

The dedicated green lane system in Rawalpindi is a significant step toward improving traffic management and road safety. If successful, it could inspire other metropolitan areas to adopt similar solutions, ultimately making Pakistan’s roads safer and more organized for all commuters.
