Murree & Galiyat, Pakistan – Heavy snowfall has led to major road closures and travel restrictions in Murree and Galiyat, as authorities take precautionary measures to ensure public safety. The severe weather has made travel dangerous, with officials confirming that road access is blocked in several areas.

Authorities Implement Travel Restrictions

The district administration has imposed travel limitations to prevent potential accidents caused by icy roads and reduced visibility. The Murree Expressway remains blocked from Satra Meel Toll Plaza, while efforts are underway to clear snow and restore access.

In Galiyat, entry from Barian and Harno has been restricted due to treacherous road conditions. Officials, including Galiyat DSP Imtiaz, have stated that the restrictions are necessary for public safety as heavy snowfall has made travel nearly impossible.

Efforts to Clear Roads and Restore Normalcy

Authorities have deployed heavy machinery to clear snow and are using salt to prevent road surfaces from becoming dangerously slippery. Despite these efforts, strong winds and thick fog continue to create hazardous conditions for travelers.

Additionally, power outages have been reported in several areas due to the extreme weather, further complicating the situation.

Rescue Teams on High Alert

Rescue teams are actively assisting stranded travelers and working to restore road access. Officials are advising the public to avoid unnecessary travel and check weather conditions before planning any trips to Murree and Galiyat.

Stay Updated

Travelers and tourists are encouraged to stay informed through official channels for updates on road conditions and weather forecasts. Authorities urge caution and patience until the situation improves.

With the snowfall continuing to disrupt travel and daily life in Murree and Galiyat, it is crucial to prioritize safety. Visitors should delay travel plans and follow official advisories to prevent potential accidents and inconvenience.
