The Excise and Taxation Department Islamabad has announced a 15-day extension for vehicle owners to pay their token taxes, with the new deadline set for January 31. This move provides taxpayers with a final opportunity to clear their dues without incurring penalties, offering much-needed relief to those who were unable to meet the original deadline.

Consequences for Non-Compliance

The department has issued a stern warning for vehicle owners who fail to comply with the revised deadline. According to a spokesperson, failure to pay by January 31 could result in the cancellation of vehicle registration and fines that could reach up to 200% of the outstanding tax amount.

Extended Office Hours for Convenience

To facilitate timely payments, the Excise and Taxation Department has extended its office hours, with excise counters now operating until 8 PM. This adjustment ensures that individuals can make payments after regular working hours, making it easier for those with busy schedules.

Digital Payment Options

In addition to extended office hours, the department is also leveraging technology to simplify the payment process. Vehicle owners with smart cards can now pay their token taxes through the Islamabad City App, enabling them to fulfill their tax obligations conveniently from the comfort of their homes.

A Step Toward Improved Public Services

This extension reflects the Excise and Taxation Department’s commitment to enhancing public services and encouraging compliance with tax regulations. By offering flexible payment options and prioritizing customer convenience, the department aims to reduce the burden on taxpayers and promote timely payments.

Call to Action

The department urges citizens to take full advantage of the extended deadline and available resources, including the user-friendly app and longer office hours. By meeting the new deadline, vehicle owners can avoid unnecessary fines and maintain their good standing with the authorities.

With this extension, the Excise and Taxation Department has reinforced its dedication to making tax compliance accessible and convenient for all. Vehicle owners are encouraged to act promptly, utilize the available facilities, and contribute to a streamlined and efficient tax system.
