First Fleet of 146 Electric Buses Arrives in Islamabad

In a significant development for Islamabad’s public transport system, the first batch of 146 electric buses has officially arrived in the city. Once operational, the station will play a crucial role in maintaining the electric bus fleet, ensuring that buses are charged and ready to serve the public.

Punjab’s Electric Bus Initiative

Meanwhile, Punjab is also taking significant steps to implement electric buses in its neighboring Rawalpindi city. By next year, 102 electric buses are expected to operate on an 84-kilometer route, funded by an investment of Rs 4.7 billion. This project, similar to Islamabad’s, aims to reduce air pollution and improve transport connectivity in the region.

Driver Training and Operational Setup

In preparation for the official launch of the electric bus services, CDA has already begun driver training programs. These training sessions, along with the setup of temporary offices to manage operations, are expected to take about a month. This ensures that drivers are fully prepared and that the buses are ready for daily service.
