Xiaomi is gearing up to expand its presence in the electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of its second EV, the YU7 SUV, expected to debut in mid-2025. Following the success of the Xiaomi SU7, the YU7 aims to compete with leading electric SUVs, particularly the Tesla Model Y. Regulatory filings have already revealed key specifications, battery options, and dimensions, generating excitement among EV enthusiasts.

Power and Performance

The Xiaomi YU7 will be available in two configurations:

  • Single-motor Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD): 315 HP motor with a top speed of 240 km/h.
  • Dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD): 295 HP front motor + 386 HP rear motor, delivering a total of 681 HP with a top speed of 253 km/h.

This makes the AWD version a high-performance EV, competing with some of the top electric SUVs in the market.

Battery and Range

The YU7 will feature two battery pack options:

  • AWD Version: 101.7 kWh battery with a CLTC-rated range of 670 km, 750 km, or 760 km, depending on configuration.
  • RWD Version: 96.3 kWh battery offering a range of 725 km, 810 km, or 820 km.

It’s worth noting that CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) range estimates tend to be optimistic, and real-world performance may vary.

Size and Dimensions

The Xiaomi YU7 is positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, featuring:

  • Length: 4,999 mm
  • Width: 1,996 mm
  • Height: 1,600 mm
  • Wheelbase: 3,000 mm

With these dimensions, the YU7 sits between Tesla’s Model Y and Model X, offering ample interior space and cargo capacity.

Technology and Features

Xiaomi is integrating cutting-edge technology into the YU7, including:

  • Roof-mounted LiDAR sensor for enhanced safety and autonomous driving capabilities.
  • Ultra-wide infotainment display for an immersive in-car experience.
  • Modern, sleek design with Xiaomi’s signature tech-driven approach.

Expected Pricing

While Xiaomi has not officially announced the pricing, industry experts estimate that the YU7 will start at approximately 250,000 Yuan (around $34,700 or Rs. 96 lac). This price point positions it as an affordable competitor to Tesla and other premium EV brands.

With its powerful performance, advanced technology, and competitive pricing, the Xiaomi YU7 is set to make a significant impact on the EV market. As the global shift toward electric mobility continues, Xiaomi’s expansion into the SUV segment could attract a broad consumer base, further solidifying its presence in the automotive industry.

Stay tuned for more updates as Xiaomi unveils official details and pre-order information for the YU7 SUV!
