Toyota has launched the facelifted Toyota Aqua Facelift in Japan, and it is quickly attracting attention for its Prius-like design and improved features. The subcompact hybrid now carries Toyota’s signature “hammerhead” front fascia with a sleek grille, full-width LED headlights joined by a thin light bar, and a slim lower bumper. At the rear, a black trim panel, a smaller emblem, and a subtle spoiler add a modern, refined touch.

Inside The New Toyota Aqua Facelift

Inside, Toyota has focused on comfort and technology. A 7-inch digital instrument cluster now comes standard across all trims. The infotainment system offers 8-inch or 10.5-inch displays, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold enhances convenience in traffic. Safety also improves with the inclusion of Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which features collision avoidance, emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and the new Smooth Stop Control borrowed from Toyota’s flagship Century SUV to deliver smoother braking.

Under the body, the Toyota Aqua Facelift continues to run on Toyota’s TNGA-B platform, shared with the Yaris and Yaris Cross. It uses a self-charging hybrid system with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, electric motor(s), and a nickel-metal hydride battery. Both front-wheel drive and E-Four all-wheel drive options are available. Toyota has not yet released updated fuel economy figures. But the previous Aqua achieved around 35.8 km/L, so similar performance is expected.

Toyota also offers Modellista customization packages for buyers who want more individuality. Options include an aero body kit with bumper extensions, side skirts, and rear skirts. Plus 17-inch alloy wheels and wood-style interior inserts for a more premium feel.

Pricing in Japan starts at about ¥2,486,000 (around $16,900) for the X trim FWD. And rises to ¥3,022,800 (around $20,600) for the top Z trim with E-Four AWD. With its blend of style, technology, and efficiency, the new Aqua positions itself as a smart and eco-friendly choice for young adults and budget-conscious drivers.
