On Thursday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed the next chapter in autonomous vehicle technology at the “We, Robot” event in Burbank, California. The star of the event was the Cybercab, a new two-seater autonomous car that redefines how we think about driving. Without a steering wheel or pedals, the Cybercab is designed to operate entirely through Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology, marking Tesla’s bold step toward fully autonomous transportation.

In a showcase of innovation, 21 Cybercabs were displayed alongside 50 other self-driving vehicles, highlighting Tesla’s rapid advancements in autonomous tech. According to Musk, the Cybercab is expected to be priced under $30,000, making it an affordable option for consumers eager to experience autonomous driving. Production of the Cybercab is slated to begin by 2027, with a clear aim of revolutionizing urban mobility.

Beyond the Cybercab, Musk also teased another futuristic concept: the Robovan. This electric van, capable of carrying up to 20 passengers, hints at Tesla’s broader vision of transforming public and shared transportation. Both vehicles are expected to benefit from Tesla’s advanced Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, which Musk promised would soon reach a level of autonomy that requires no human supervision, with plans to launch this in Texas and California by next year.

Despite previous delays in delivering fully autonomous driving, Musk assured attendees that Tesla remains fully committed to achieving this vision. “We are closer than ever,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of ongoing development in FSD technology.

The event also provided hands-on experiences for the audience, including test rides in the self-driving vehicles and a special appearance by Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus. The evening concluded with a fun and unexpected twist: a performance by dancing robots, offering a glimpse of the future where robotics and artificial intelligence might reshape our everyday lives.

Tesla’s “We, Robot” event left a lasting impression, showcasing the company’s relentless drive to push the boundaries of autonomous technology. With the Cybercab, Robovan, and continuous strides in FSD, Tesla is set to lead the way in transforming how we move and interact with machines in the near future.
