By The long-awaited T-Chowk Flyover Islamabad project is making rapid progress, with 60 percent of construction work now complete, according to officials overseeing the development. The project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at easing traffic congestion between GT Road and Islamabad, is expected to be open to traffic by early December 2025.
During a recent inspection of the site, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reviewed ongoing construction activities and expressed satisfaction with both the pace and quality of work. He emphasized that there will be “no compromise on quality or speed”, directing authorities to ensure that construction standards remain high throughout the project’s final stages.
Once operational, the T-Chowk Flyover will provide signal-free access from GT Road into Islamabad, drastically reducing congestion on key routes, particularly during rush hours. This will bring much-needed relief to daily commuters, including students and professionals who regularly face bottlenecks in the area.
Officials confirmed that the project is being executed under round-the-clock supervision, with construction teams working 24/7 to meet the deadline. Minister Naqvi highlighted that timely completion is essential to minimize public inconvenience, especially during peak traffic hours and school timings.
“The T-Chowk Flyover is a vital part of Islamabad’s traffic improvement plan,”
said Naqvi. “Its completion will mark a major step toward a smoother and safer transportation network in the southern corridor of the capital.”
The T-Chowk Flyover Islamabad project is part of the government’s broader strategy to upgrade critical urban infrastructure and enhance road safety across the region. With its completion, residents and commuters can expect shorter travel times, reduced fuel consumption, and fewer traffic jams along the busy GT Road-Islamabad corridor.
This development aligns with ongoing efforts by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Interior Ministry to modernize Islamabad’s transport network and create a more efficient and commuter-friendly city.
