Pakistan’s automobile market witnessed a remarkable surge in January 2025, with total car sales reaching 17,010 units, marking a 61.4% increase compared to the same period last year. The Suzuki Alto emerged as the best-selling car, leading the market with an impressive 5,039 units sold.

Boom in Below 1000cc Segment

The ‘Below 1000cc’ category saw the highest sales, recording 5,633 units. This highlights the growing preference for fuel-efficient and affordable vehicles, making Suzuki Alto the top choice among buyers.

Strong Performance in 1300cc and Above Segment

The ‘1300cc and Above’ category also posted strong numbers, with 5,518 units sold. Toyota Corolla and Yaris remained the most sought-after models in this segment, contributing 2,149 units to the overall tally.

Rise in Light Commercial Vehicles and Jeeps

Beyond passenger cars, light commercial vehicles (LCVs), vans, and jeeps experienced a significant boost, with sales increasing by 87.5%. This surge indicates a growing demand for commercial and multipurpose vehicles, reflecting increased economic and business activity.

Factors Driving Market Growth

Industry experts attribute this sharp rise in vehicle sales to several key factors:

  • Improved supply chains ensuring better availability of vehicles.
  • Attractive financing options making car ownership more accessible.
  • Consumer confidence boosting demand for new vehicles.

Positive Outlook for Pakistan’s Auto Industry

The increasing demand for vehicles is a promising sign for the local automobile sector, encouraging manufacturers to ramp up production and investment. If this momentum continues, 2025 could prove to be a landmark year for Pakistan’s auto industry, fostering economic growth and employment opportunities.

With automakers optimistic about sustained demand, the coming months will be crucial in determining how the market evolves in response to economic and policy developments.
