The Sindh Police have officially decided to expand Karachi’s successful faceless e-challan system to additional districts across the province, marking a major step toward modernizing traffic enforcement. The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Inspector General (IG) Ghulam Nabi Memon at the Central Police Office in Karachi, where senior officials and representatives from the Safe City Authority reviewed the system’s performance.
TRACS Technology and Enforcement Cameras Ready for Rollout
Officials confirmed that the Traffic Road Accident and Control System (TRACS)—a central component of the digital traffic enforcement model—is fully prepared for deployment. In the first phase, the faceless e-challan system will be introduced in:
- Thatta
- Khairpur
- Shaheed Benazirabad
- Mirpurkhas
- Tando Muhammad Khan
- Larkana
The DIG Traffic reported that enforcement cameras, monitoring tools, and TRACS features are ready to be installed in all six districts. These systems automatically detect violations such as improper number plates, helmet violations, overspeeding, and seat belt non-compliance, enabling authorities to issue e-challans without any physical interaction between police and road users.
Service Centers Established; Staff Training to Begin Soon
To support the expansion, service centers have already been set up across the selected districts. Training sessions for traffic staff will begin shortly to ensure smooth handling of e-challans, complaints, and public queries under the new digital framework.
Public Awareness Campaign to Ensure Compliance
IG Ghulam Nabi Memon has instructed all DIGs to launch a comprehensive public awareness campaign before full implementation. He emphasized collaboration with local administrations, community groups, social media, and news outlets to educate citizens about TRACS and the benefits of the faceless e-challan system.
The awareness campaign will highlight essential traffic rules, including:
- Mandatory helmet use
- Seat belt enforcement
- Installation of legal and readable number plates
- Avoiding lane violations and overspeeding
A Major Step Toward Safer Roads in Sindh
The expansion of the Sindh faceless e-challan system reflects the province’s ongoing commitment to improving road safety, reducing traffic accidents, and introducing transparent, technology-driven enforcement. With the rollout of TRACS and automated monitoring, Sindh aims to create a more disciplined, compliant, and safer traffic environment for all road users.
