The Sindh Police have initiated a major province-wide crackdown against vehicles operating without number plates and individuals driving without valid licenses. The move follows strict new directives issued by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Zubair Nazir Ahmed Shaikh, aimed at enhancing road safety and bringing unregistered vehicles under the legal framework.
The order, issued on December 4, 2025, mandates immediate enforcement of traffic laws across all districts, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad. District SSPs and police units have been instructed to implement the directive without delay.
IG Sindh Orders Strict Enforcement Under Motor Vehicles Ordinance
According to the official notification, a “considerable number of vehicles” in Sindh are being driven without registration plates, while many motorists continue to operate vehicles without holding a legal driving license. The IGP has declared this situation a serious safety concern, warranting urgent corrective action.
Under the new crackdown:
- Vehicles without number plates will be stopped and legally acted upon.
- Motorists driving without valid licenses will face penalties and possible arrests.
- Non-compliant vehicles may be seized under Section 550 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
- Police officers are required to strictly follow the Motor Vehicles Ordinance and all relevant traffic rules.
Daily Progress Reports Made Mandatory
To ensure full implementation, the provincial police leadership has ordered all units to submit daily compliance reports by 10:00 am. These reports must detail:
- Number of vehicles seized
- FIRs registered
- Vehicles taken into custody under CrPC Section 550
The directive is marked “Most Urgent”, highlighting the seriousness of the enforcement campaign.
Immediate Implementation Across the Province
Copies of the order have been forwarded to senior police officers, including zonal DIGs and district SSPs, for instant action. Police units across Sindh have already begun targeted operations at major intersections, highways, and urban centers.
The crackdown is expected to bring thousands of vehicles into compliance, reduce crime associated with unregistered vehicles, and improve overall road safety across the province.
The Sindh Police’s latest directive reflects a renewed focus on lawful driving practices, road safety, and regulatory compliance. By intensifying checks on number plates and driving licenses, the provincial government aims to create safer roads and curb illegal vehicle activity.
