In a significant step toward women empowerment and skill development, the Government of Sindh has launched a free scooter-riding training program for women in Karachi. The initiative is designed to improve mobility, independence, and self-confidence among women while promoting safe and responsible road usage.
The program is part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to create equal opportunities for women by equipping them with practical skills that support education, employment, and daily commuting. Officials believe that access to two-wheeler mobility can significantly reduce dependence on public transport and improve safety and convenience for women across the city.
Objectives of the Program
The scooter training initiative focuses on:
- Enhancing women’s independence and confidence
- Promoting road safety awareness
- Providing free skill development opportunities
- Encouraging women’s participation in economic and social activities
The government has confirmed that based on its success in Karachi, the program will be expanded to other cities across Sindh in the near future.
Training Locations and Timings in Karachi
To ensure easy access, training sessions are being conducted at multiple locations across Karachi:
- DHA, Karachi:
Fridays and Sundays, 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Malir, Karachi:
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm - Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi:
Monday & Wednesday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Sunday, 8:00 am to 10:00 am - Korangi, Karachi:
Monday to Friday, 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm
These multiple locations allow women from different areas of the city to participate conveniently.
Required Documents for Application
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
- CNIC
- Domicile or PRC
- One passport-size photograph
- Office or student card
- Motorbike learner permit or valid motorcycle licence
How to Apply
Women can apply by submitting hard or scanned copies of the required documents via WhatsApp or in person at the program’s Head Office located at D-43, Shahra-e-Ghalib, Clifton Block 2, Karachi.
Additionally, women who already possess a valid motorcycle licence can register for the Pink EV Scooty Program under the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA), with scooter distribution expected to begin soon.
