The Government of Sindh has approved a new project aimed at building an electric vehicle charging network across the province. The initiative is designed to support the growth of electric mobility while encouraging cleaner and more sustainable transportation options in Pakistan.
Officials say the project will be developed through a public and private partnership involving international and local companies. The plan focuses on expanding charging infrastructure so that electric vehicles can operate more easily across major cities and highways in Sindh.
In the first phase of the project, the provincial government will allocate about Rs750 million to support the installation of 300 electric vehicle charging stations.
Public Private Partnership to Expand Charging Infrastructure
Authorities say the EV charging initiative will involve collaboration between the Sindh government, China based ADM Group, and Pakistan’s Malik Group of Companies. The partnership aims to introduce modern fast charging technology and develop infrastructure capable of supporting a growing number of electric vehicles in the region.
Alongside the government investment, ADM Group has reportedly committed around 90 million dollars to support the development of a much larger charging network across Pakistan. The broader plan includes the potential construction of up to 3000 electric vehicle charging stations nationwide.
Officials believe that expanding charging infrastructure is essential for encouraging EV adoption. Limited charging availability has often been considered one of the main challenges slowing the growth of electric mobility in many countries.
Focus on Clean Energy and Sustainable Transport
Provincial authorities say the project is part of broader efforts to promote environmentally friendly transportation systems. Officials expect the charging network to help reduce emissions while supporting the shift toward cleaner energy solutions in the transport sector.
Sindh’s provincial leadership has highlighted the potential environmental benefits of encouraging electric vehicle usage. Expanding EV infrastructure could reduce reliance on fossil fuels while improving air quality in major urban areas.
Government representatives also emphasized that the project could strengthen the province’s role in developing modern transportation technologies within Pakistan.
Economic and Infrastructure Development
Beyond environmental benefits, the project is also expected to contribute to economic activity and infrastructure development in the region. Industry leaders involved in the partnership. Say the construction and operation of charging stations could generate new business opportunities and employment.
According to representatives from the participating companies. The project may create job opportunities for local workers while providing technical training for staff responsible for operating and maintaining the charging stations.
Earlier announcements from provincial authorities also outlined plans to place hundreds of EV chargers at strategic locations across Sindh. These locations may include major highways, transportation corridors, and key urban areas to ensure convenient access for drivers.
Growing EV Infrastructure in Pakistan
The expansion of charging networks is becoming increasingly important as Pakistan explores the transition toward electric mobility. Government policies and private investments are gradually focusing on building the infrastructure required to support EVs on a larger scale.

While the first phase includes 300 charging stations. The broader initiative could eventually support thousands of EV charging points nationwide if development continues as planned.
Industry observers say projects like this could play a significant role in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in Pakistan. By improving convenience for drivers and strengthening the country’s EV ecosystem.
