Sindh CM Advices to Releases Rs. 2.59 Billion to Accelerate Tando Allahyar–Tando Adam Dual Carriageway Project

In a major step toward improving regional connectivity, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the immediate release of Rs. 2.59 billion for the Tando Allahyar–Tando Adam dual carriageway, a 31.4-kilometre road project worth Rs. 9.28 billion. The move aims to accelerate progress on one of Sindh’s key infrastructure schemes designed to improve transport efficiency and stimulate economic growth.

Presiding over a high-level review meeting on Sindh’s development portfolio, CM Murad Ali Shah emphasized the importance of fast-tracking infrastructure projects undertaken in collaboration with the federal government and international development partners.

“Road infrastructure forms the backbone of Sindh’s economic development. Our priority is to complete projects that directly serve the public and strengthen connectivity,” said Murad Ali Shah.

Key Infrastructure Projects Under Review

The meeting also reviewed several major projects aimed at transforming Sindh’s road network:

  • Sindh Coastal Highway (36 km): A Rs. 3.7 billion project jointly funded by the federal and provincial governments. Termed a “strategic lifeline for coastal development,” it is targeted for completion by June 2027.
  • Rohri–Guddu Barrage Road (105 km): A Rs. 17.79 billion project connecting upper Sindh to southern Punjab, boosting trade and mobility.
  • Mehran Highway (Nawabshah–Ranipur, 135 km): Valued at Rs. 41.03 billion, this corridor is critical for intra-provincial trade and will be completed by June 2027.
  • Sanghar–Rohri Road (221 km): A Rs. 35.08 billion road with Rs. 1.12 billion provincial funding, expected to enhance rural access and boost agricultural commerce.

ADB-Assisted Flood Reconstruction Efforts

The CM also reviewed the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-assisted Sindh Flood Emergency Reconstruction Project (EFAP) — a Rs. 48.4 billion initiative launched in January 2024 to rebuild roads damaged during the 2022 floods.

So far, 538 km of the 724 km targeted roads have been completed, with 96% of Sindh’s Rs. 4.25 billion share already utilized. The revised PC-I proposes expanding the project to 873 km with an updated cost of Rs. 62.53 billion, accounting for additional construction and tax adjustments.

“The ADB-funded reconstruction demonstrates Sindh’s resolve to rebuild smarter and stronger roads after the floods,” Shah noted, urging the timely release of funds and completion by June 2026.

Driving Sindh Toward Modern Infrastructure

Murad Ali Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernizing Sindh’s infrastructure, promoting regional connectivity, and building long-term economic resilience. The accelerated funding for the Tando Allahyar–Tando Adam carriageway is a key part of this broader development vision.
