The Shaheen Chowk Underpass Islamabad project has entered its final construction phase, marking a key milestone in the capital’s infrastructure development. Authorities have confirmed that the project will be completed within one month, bringing much-needed relief to commuters who face heavy congestion at one of Islamabad’s busiest intersections.

During a recent visit to the construction site, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reviewed the project’s progress and praised the pace of work. He instructed the teams to maintain 24/7 construction activity to ensure completion within the announced timeframe.

“The early completion of this project is crucial to ease public difficulties, particularly during peak hours,”
said Minister Naqvi. “Quality and efficiency must remain top priorities to ensure long-term results.”

The Shaheen Chowk Underpass is designed to improve traffic flow, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance road safety in Islamabad. Once completed, it will serve as a modern addition to the city’s transport network, helping thousands of daily commuters save time and fuel.

During the visit, the CDA Member Engineering briefed the minister about ongoing progress and construction timelines, assuring that all available resources are being utilized to meet the completion target.

Minister Naqvi reaffirmed the government’s focus on urban mobility and public convenience, stating that “relieving citizens from traffic problems is our top priority.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been actively working on several infrastructure projects across Islamabad to upgrade major intersections and road networks. The Shaheen Chowk Underpass is one of these flagship initiatives aimed at ensuring smoother, safer, and faster transportation across the federal capital.

When operational, the underpass will not only reduce traffic congestion but also lower vehicle emissions, contributing to a cleaner environment and improved air quality. The project aligns with Islamabad’s broader vision of becoming a modern, sustainable, and well-connected city.
