In a landmark initiative aimed at easing urban mobility and managing traffic flow more effectively, the City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has launched a specialized Traffic Response Unit. This strategic move is designed to provide rapid responses to traffic emergencies, congestion, and disruptions across the city’s busiest corridors.
This significant development comes under the direct directive of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, reflecting the provincial government’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure and commuter experience. The implementation of the Traffic Response Unit is being overseen by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima, who is leading efforts to modernize and streamline citywide traffic operations.
Dual-Unit Deployment Strategy for High-Impact Coverage
Initially, two fully operational units have been launched, each staffed with 10 motorcycles and 10 trained traffic wardens. These units have been strategically deployed in Rawalpindi’s most traffic-prone zones to ensure swift and effective intervention.
- Unit 1 Coverage:
- Misrial Road
- Girja Road
- Tench Bhatta
- Adiala Road
- Chakri Road
- Unit 2 Coverage:
- Civil Lines
- Murree Road
- Saddar
- Raja Bazaar
- Ganj Mandi
- Faizabad
- Sadiqabad
Each motorcycle in the response fleet is equipped with sirens and public address systems, allowing wardens to deliver real-time instructions to drivers and pedestrians alike. This ensures not only a rapid arrival at the scene of congestion but also the capability to restore traffic flow with immediate effect.
Real-Time Coordination and Communication
The Traffic Response Unit will work in constant coordination with CTP headquarters, enabling real-time decision-making and seamless traffic management across the city. This centralized communication model enhances responsiveness and ensures that traffic wardens can quickly adapt to evolving road conditions and emergencies.
A Step Toward Smarter Urban Traffic Management
This initiative marks a forward-thinking step in smart traffic management for Rawalpindi, focusing on proactive congestion control and commuter safety. As the city continues to grow, responsive systems like these will be vital in maintaining order and efficiency on the roads.
The CTP urges residents to cooperate with traffic wardens and remain attentive to real-time directions, ensuring the success of this public service enhancement. The launch of the Traffic Response Unit reflects a broader commitment to safe, efficient, and modern urban transportation solutions for all.
