In a bid to address long-standing infrastructure needs, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi officially inaugurated the Ratta Road construction project on Thursday in Rawalpindi. The project, seen as a crucial step toward urban improvement, will involve both road development and drainage rehabilitation.

Supervised by National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) and executed by the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation, the initiative aims to be completed in just one and a half months.

Project Details

  • Project Name: Ratta Road Development
  • Supervisory Body: NESPAK
  • Implementing Agency: Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation
  • Expected Completion Time: 1.5 months
  • Scope of Work:
    • Full-scale road construction
    • Drainage system rehabilitation

The project is expected to greatly ease traffic congestion and improve sanitation in the area, benefiting thousands of residents and local businesses.

Public Support and Government Commitment

Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, Minister Hanif Abbasi emphasized that infrastructure improvement is a top priority for the current administration. “We are committed to improving roads and streets across the city,” he said, highlighting the importance of public cooperation in ensuring the successful completion of such development works.

He further added, “These development projects are part of our mission to serve the people. The PML-N believes in practical action, not just promises.”

Residents and local shopkeepers expressed their appreciation, saying that improved infrastructure had been a long-standing demand and that this project reflects the government’s responsiveness to civic needs.

Broader Impact

The Ratta Road Rawalpindi project is not just about infrastructure—it represents a larger shift toward more responsive urban governance. With NESPAK’s technical oversight and swift implementation timelines, the project could serve as a model for future municipal developments across Punjab and beyond.

As Rawalpindi continues to evolve, projects like the Ratta Road construction mark an essential investment in the city’s growth and livability. With an emphasis on timely delivery and public welfare, this initiative is a positive sign of the government’s commitment to real, on-ground progress.
