In an ongoing effort to combat air pollution and promote environmental sustainability, the Punjab Environment Protection and Climate Change Department has announced the relocation of one of its Vehicle Emissions Testing System (ETS) booths from Bedian Road to Dolmen Mall, Lahore. The move is part of the department’s strategy to make emissions testing more accessible to the public while encouraging vehicle owners to contribute to cleaner air in urban areas.
In an official public notice, the department urged all citizens to get their vehicle emissions tested promptly, emphasizing that public cooperation is crucial in the fight against rising pollution levels. By getting their vehicles checked, residents play a direct role in reducing harmful emissions and improving air quality across the city.
A spokesperson from the department also confirmed plans to expand the emissions testing network to Punjab’s motorways, aiming to extend regulatory enforcement and environmental monitoring to a wider geographical area. This development aligns with the province’s increasing focus on sustainable transportation and climate-friendly policies.
Currently, 20 ETS booths are operational across Lahore, providing emissions testing services to the public. These facilities operate Monday through Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a lunch and prayer break from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
The expansion and relocation efforts reflect a broader push by the Punjab government to tackle urban smog, vehicular pollution, and climate change challenges through proactive environmental monitoring.

Any effort made to counter pollution in Lahore is highly appreciated, however considering the number of vehicles in Lahore, thier should be increase in per day working hours, number of outlets and the deadline.
Because today myself observed and recorded a long queue of vehicles from 6:00 a.m. starting from main entry area to all the way towards Shah Alam road where the road has been blocked by closing big gate behind emporium.
At 9:50 a.m. they were unofficially informed that today is off day!! 😕 😞
Please think of jobbers who have either Saturday or Sunday off, they can not during working days.
Last but not least I saw cars, mini trucks( Shahzor), private, commercial all queued in one line.
