Punjab Traffic Police Introduces AI and Lifetime Video Proof in Driving License Tests

The Punjab Traffic Police has rolled out a series of strict reforms to make the driving license issuance process more transparent and corruption-free. According to DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir, cameras at all driving license testing centers across the province will now remain active at all times, and no license will be issued without proper video proof of the test.

Lifetime Video Backups for Transparency

Previously, video footage of driving tests was stored for only 15 days, making it difficult to investigate irregularities or address complaints. Under the new system, all videos will now be stored permanently and linked directly to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) data center, ensuring greater accountability.

DIG Waqas Nazir emphasized that this initiative will help eradicate the culture of recommendations, bribery, and human bias in licensing. More importantly, untrained and unqualified drivers will no longer be able to obtain driving licenses illegally.

Artificial Intelligence to Monitor Driving Tests

To further enhance transparency, Punjab Traffic Police is also launching an AI-based monitoring system this month. Vehicles equipped with cameras and smart sensors will be used during driving tests. These systems will automatically detect mistakes made by candidates, minimizing the chances of human error or manipulation.

Expected Impact on Road Safety

Officials believe these reforms will not only ensure that only trained and capable individuals receive licenses but also improve overall road safety across Punjab. With lifetime video proof and AI-powered testing, it will be easier to take strict action against unlicensed drivers while encouraging a culture of compliance with traffic laws.

The move reflects Punjab Traffic Police’s commitment to modernizing traffic management and safeguarding citizens by reducing accidents caused by unqualified drivers.
