By The Punjab Ring Road Authority (PRRA) has officially implemented a revised toll rate structure for all vehicle categories on the Ring Road, with the new charges taking effect from December 22, 2025. The latest revision comes exactly two years after the previous toll adjustment, which was introduced on December 22, 2023.
According to officials, the increase applies exclusively to the Punjab Ring Road and does not affect toll charges on other motorways or national highways across Pakistan. The authority cited rising operational costs, routine maintenance expenses, and infrastructure upgrades as key reasons behind the revision.
Revised Toll Rates: Old vs New
Under the updated schedule, toll charges have been increased across all vehicle categories. Cars and jeeps, which previously paid Rs. 60 per entry, will now be charged Rs. 70. Similarly, tolls for Hiace and wagons have been raised from Rs. 120 to Rs. 140.
Minibuses and coasters will also now pay Rs. 140 instead of Rs. 120, while toll charges for buses have increased from Rs. 300 to Rs. 350. For heavier vehicles, including loaders, trucks, dumpers, and pickups with 2–3 axles, the toll has been revised from Rs. 360 to Rs. 420.
The most significant increase applies to trucks and trailers with more than three axles, whose toll has risen from Rs. 600 to Rs. 700, reflecting the higher wear and tear such vehicles place on road infrastructure.
Impact on Daily Commuters and Transport Sector
The Ring Road serves as a critical transport artery, facilitating daily movement for commuters, logistics operators, and commercial transporters. While the increase is relatively moderate, transporters believe it may lead to higher operating costs, particularly for freight services that rely heavily on the route.
However, officials maintain that the toll adjustment is necessary to ensure road quality, safety standards, and uninterrupted operations, adding that toll revenues are reinvested into maintenance and traffic management systems.
Ring Road Only – Not Applicable Elsewhere
Authorities have clarified that the revised toll rates apply only to the Punjab Ring Road. Motorists using other motorways or expressways will not be affected by this change.
With rising traffic volumes and inflationary pressures, further adjustments in infrastructure charges may remain a possibility, though no additional revisions have been announced at this time.
