The Punjab traffic fines have surged in 2025 as police step up efforts to enforce road discipline. Over 594,000 drivers have been penalized for lane violations, showing the province’s strict approach to improving traffic behavior.
More than 400,000 of these fines were issued specifically for breaking lane and line rules. These violations contribute to disorganized roads, especially in crowded cities. The authorities aim to reduce traffic chaos and promote safer driving habits across the province.
DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir explained that dedicated green lanes in major cities like Lahore have helped reduce traffic congestion. These lanes guide vehicles into proper formation, improving flow during rush hours.
In other districts, traffic police use cones and markings to organize traffic. Officers actively monitor intersections and guide drivers into the correct lanes. This hands-on approach helps reinforce discipline on the roads.

Nazir added that enforcement is only one part of the plan. Police teams are also running a province-wide traffic awareness campaign. This campaign educates drivers about the importance of lane discipline and its role in reducing accidents and delays.
The awareness program includes public messages, school visits, and roadside instructions. Officials believe that combining education and enforcement is the best way to create long-term change.
By taking these steps, the Punjab traffic police are working toward a safer and more organized road environment. Drivers who continue to ignore lane rules face strict penalties, while those who follow them contribute to smoother, safer travel for everyone.
