The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has achieved a new milestone by registering the most expensive vehicle in its history—a luxury SUV worth Rs. 176 million. According to Director Shahid Gilani, the single registration brought in a staggering Rs. 94.41 million in fees, marking the highest amount ever collected from a single vehicle in the province.

Breaking the Previous Record

This achievement has completely shattered the department’s previous record. In 2023, a Range Rover variant held the top spot with a registration fee of Rs. 9.11 million. The latest figure is more than ten times higher, reflecting the growing presence of ultra-luxury vehicles in Pakistan.

Owner and Special Number Plate

The record-breaking SUV was registered by Ahmed Waqas, a resident of Gujranwala. In addition to the registration, he also opted for a special number plate, further distinguishing his vehicle and making it stand out on the road.

Contribution to Provincial Revenue

Officials highlighted that such high-value registrations not only set records but also make a significant contribution to Punjab’s overall revenue collection. The trend of registering luxury and high-end vehicles is becoming more prominent, signaling both rising affluence and stronger compliance with tax obligations.

Meanwhile, the Motor Branch Lahore continues to lead in revenue generation. In just the first two months of the current fiscal year, it has collected over Rs. 5 billion, proving itself as the department’s most efficient and high-performing branch.

Luxury Vehicle Trends in Pakistan

The registration of this Rs. 176 million SUV underscores the growing demand for luxury vehicles in Pakistan. It also reflects how high-net-worth individuals are increasingly willing to pay substantial taxes and fees, boosting provincial revenue.

Industry observers note that luxury vehicle registrations highlight not only changing consumer preferences but also the positive impact on government finances, helping strengthen provincial budgets and fund development projects.
