In a landmark 24-hour enforcement drive, Punjab authorities have taken decisive action to improve traffic compliance and environmental standards across the province. A total of 26,489 driving licences were issued, while 40,593 traffic violations were recorded—resulting in Rs. 24 million in challans levied on offenders.

Key Highlights of the 24-Hour Operation

  • Driving Licences Issued: 26,489
  • Traffic Violations Noted: 40,593
  • Total Challan Revenue: Rs. 24,000,000
  • High-Emission Vehicle Fines: 600 vehicles
  • Vehicles Seized for Pollution Non-Compliance: 91

Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, praised the operation’s success and underscored the importance of sustained enforcement. “We will continue to take strict action against violators and ensure effective recovery of outstanding fines,” he said. Dr. Anwar emphasized that these efforts are critical to promoting safe driving practices and maintaining cleaner, safer roads throughout Punjab.

Tackling Environmental Concerns on the Road

As part of the province’s environmental initiative, 600 vehicles emitting excessive smoke were fined on the spot. Of these, 91 vehicles were seized for failing to meet pollution control standards. This action aligns with Punjab’s broader strategy to combat air pollution—a persistent health hazard in urban centres.

Tahaffuz Marakaz: Extending Community Support

In parallel with traffic enforcement, Tahaffuz Marakaz centres across Punjab have provided critical assistance to 33,893 vulnerable individuals so far this year:

  • Women Assisted: 16,483
  • Minors Assisted: 12,622
  • Transgender Individuals Assisted: 4,788

These support centres offer legal, medical, and social services to those in need, demonstrating the government’s commitment not only to road safety but also to community welfare.
