The Punjab government has extended driving license test center hours across the province, following its recent announcement of a strict crackdown on traffic violations. The move comes after authorities warned that FIRs would be registered against motorists driving without a valid license, prompting a surge in citizens seeking to obtain legal driving documentation.
In early November, the provincial government directed law-enforcement agencies to strictly enforce traffic laws, especially against unlicensed drivers. To facilitate the public and prevent inconvenience, the government has now revised the Punjab driving license test center timings, making license services more accessible than ever.
24/7 Driving License Test Centers in Major Cities
According to official sources, licensing centers in major cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan will now operate 24 hours a day. Previously, these centers were open from 8:00 AM to 11:30 PM, which often led to overcrowding during peak hours.
With round-the-clock operations, citizens can now visit test centers at any time, reducing long queues and wait times while ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.
Extended Timings in Smaller Cities
In addition to major urban centers, smaller cities across Punjab have also seen extended working hours. Licensing centers in these areas will now remain open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 midnight, allowing more flexibility for residents who are unable to visit during regular daytime hours.
Online Learner’s Permit and E-License Facility
The Traffic Police Punjab has also reminded citizens that several license-related services are available online. Motorists can apply for a learner’s driving permit through the DLIMS website, eliminating the need for an in-person visit for the initial step.
Once applicants pass the driving test, an e-license is issued immediately. This digital license can be downloaded directly from the DLIMS portal, offering a fast and convenient alternative to physical documentation.
Encouraging Legal and Safer Driving
Officials say the extension of licensing center hours aims to encourage lawful driving and improve road safety across the province. By making the licensing process easier and more accessible, the government hopes to reduce the number of unlicensed drivers on Punjab’s roads.
Motorists have been advised to complete the licensing process as soon as possible to avoid penalties, fines, or FIR registration during ongoing traffic enforcement operations.
With Punjab driving license test center timings now significantly extended, citizens have no excuse to delay obtaining a valid driving license.
